Derek Johnson joined Valiant Wealth in May 2026 as Director of Strategic Finance, where he provides outsourced controller and CFO services to a diverse range of clients — including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and operational insights that help business owners make confident, informed decisions.

Derek is a Certified Public Accountant with a background spanning both public accounting and industry accounting, including roles in agriculture and commercial real estate. That combination of public and private-sector experience gives him a practical, results-driven approach to financial strategy, grounded in both technical rigor and real-world business operations.

At the heart of Derek’s work is a genuine passion for helping people. He believes great financial guidance starts with truly understanding a client’s business, and he takes pride in building long-term relationships built on trust, clarity, and care.

Outside the office, Derek enjoys spending time with his wife and their two young children, a daughter and a son. Family time often means neighborhood walks, splash pad afternoons, and checking out new playgrounds around town. He’s also an avid sports card collector.
